1) Katana

2) 3rd person

3) PC

Unfortunately, you had to mention DS, which is not an included criteria. PC encompasses emulators certainly, but the way you phrased it is incorrect.

And now, before you can correct/argue your point, I must reiterate and specify the rules

1) Katana, main weapon
2) 3rd Person action/adventure/both
3) PC, must be standalone without emulator
4) English language without patching/modding

What sort of genre are you looking for as I can mention about 10 asian MMORPGS that fit your description.

Morrowind.

Has kantana/dai kantana. As for it being the main weapon... well there are dozens of weapons but you could easily make it your main.
Fortunately they made the PC version long before the XBox version ever came out.
3rd person view is available as well.

Should you get it I suggest you get the GOTY edition which has 2 expansions(Tribunal and Bloodmoon) as well as the official user made patches. Beware of crash to desktop though so save often.

Sadly Morrowind is an example of a good game ruined by consoles. If you take a look at Morrowind's sucessor, Oblivion, they removed all the interesting weapons/classes/skills/objects and dumbed it down to the level of console players.

Yeah I looked into Morrowind/Oblivion due to the general popularity of the games (at least for awhile on GFAQs), and am instead deciding to start on with a Dark Messiah, which Jacky mentioned to me. Morrowind sounds good too, but I hear DM is linear (therefore less soul-sucking).

As for Kev...list all them MMO's. As for them being asian...eh...asian...and in English? Okay...

In anycase, if you were thinking D2 kind of 3rd Person, I apologize. I meant over-the-shoulder 3rd person ala 1st person with omniscent view.

Are Morrowind/Dark Messiah third person? Kevin's playing Oblivion, which i've seen 3rd person, so that could indicate Morrowind is the same, but I need das confirmationz
